Happy Meow-nday!
Finally, we are able to bring back one classic of this online home: Catweek! And to start we have a special one because this time we go international ^wink^ and happens in New York City, more precisely in front of the famous Mexican restaurant La Esquina (The Corner).
For those whom may not be familiar with our usual silly blog habits, let me first explain a little bit. Each year we dedicate a week to post only cat-related stuff, we try to make at least 3 posts that week which feature several things such as the last update report on Juno, our most recent cat outfit and other kitty things, like links or even pictures of our friends’ cats. Any excuse to talk about cats is good on our book, so we invented this week to feel completely guilt-free to be only talking about our feline obsession. And it’s also an opportunity to know more about your own cats, so please don’t forget to let me know about them in the comment section!
My favorite post for Catweek has to be the outfit. It’s not a secret that although sometimes I try to resist (whom I am kidding?), my eyes always go to the stripe t-shirt, the most quirky piece and if quirky includes a cat pattern, even better. The same thing happens with accessories, in a display with several designs if there is a cat-shape there’s a huge chance I’ll end up with it. Read here purses, bags, rings, necklaces… pretty much everything.
It is said that cats emit pheromones that make you fall in love more deeply with them. Juno’s pheromones must be super strong, because each day I’m more in love with not only her, but every other cat out there. Yesterday we were visiting an exhibit about photo books (mid-weird/mid-interesting) and can you guess which one made Dani & myself look at each other and smile? oh… yes… a kitty-calendar style photo book. There were some other interesting books too, but hey, this is Catweek, so it’s not the subject and no reason to feel guilty (that’s the motto!)
With all that said, what I love about my new jumpsuit is that it’s a super cat crazy lady outfit in disguise, because the cat-filled pattern only becomes obvious at a short distance. I like to wear it while feeling that I have a secret that will only eventually be revealed to the people I stumble upon, ha!
For his birthday I gave Dani two new cat items for his wardrobe: a t-shirt of a cat playing an ukelele while singing “your dog has fleas” (love the humor!) and a cat on a pizza enamel pin. Both presents had a double intention, the first is that he usually complains of having less cat items than me, and the other is that we already had in mind to take the Catweek pictures in New York City and I knew he would be the happiest clam to have novelties to wear during the trip (and the pics).
The pizza pin was totally intended to have an obvious New York relationship and I packed it as a late birthday surprise for him, that he only discovered while unpacking his things on our arrival at the hotel. ♥
In case you were wondering… yes! we ate at La Esquina and the tacos were super yummy. We went for carnitas, grilled fish and (my favorite) the angus rib eye with cheese. In fact La Esquina consists of three different locals, the one you can see here is the take-away, but there’s also a café (where we ate) – just attached on the other corner – and a hidden brasserie downstairs, only by reservation and with a very secretive look. The food menu is the same everywhere. Oh! and if you are eating with friends, the guacamole is very good. For two was humongous (better for 4) but still don’t regret getting it.
Do you have a new cat piece in your wardrobe? Let me know if I should start obsessing with it, ha! See you very soon my cat lovey-doveys!
Qué guapa estás en estas fotos, y no se nota nada lo qué añorasteis a juno, todos estos guiños son muy simpáticos. Me encantan todas las imágenes, adelante chicos!
ahhh so special and even more special you guys did this in New York! Love the secret cat print of your jumpsuit and love the cat tee too! I also go a little bit crazy for anything cat themed but you may of known that already :P Oh and how fun that Dani got to find his gift when he unpacked – very sweet!
Thanks Fee! I know we share this cat-theme loving thing ;) How are Gremlin and Peachy-girl? Big hug to the 4 of you!
I love your jumpsuit, and I really couldn’t tell the cat print from a distance! The ruffles at the top are quite pretty too. And loving Dani’s shirt! Great pick :D -Audrey | Brunch at Audrey’s
Thanks Audrey! I think the ruffles is what make me in love with it, I love that you can wear it with your arms tucked with the ruffle or above it, I’m not sure I’m explaining it right, ha! I’ll let Dani know his t-shirt is also appreciated, I think it’s one of his favorites right now, this one and the Star Wars, the guy has two favorite themes ;)
Aw, so fun! Love all things cats + LOVE your jumpsuit… that frill, that pattern… absolutely dreamy!! xo
I’m going to put together a post of Peachy and Gremlin because the World can never have enough cat posts right? :) :) but in a nutshell they are awesome and they are slowly getting closer and closer!
