Last Sunday, inspired by the recent discovery that the artist Emily Eldridge had painted a mural called “Smartphone love story” on a nearby skate park, we decided to pay it a visit to see how the mural look liked and share some street art love.
Unfortunately this isn’t the case of the post, we are not featuring Emily’s top-notch work here because it had been completely replaced by a Jamaican guy smoking pot, you surely have seen a gazillion times before. I think it’s a street art protocol to paint things on top of the other, but sincerely, having a good, witty & interesting piece of work substituted by an uninspired drawing (to say the least), only 5 days after it was painted, got me down.
The skate park itself was also not my favorite place in the world, with lots of waste on the floor and felt quite unsafe, so we decided to head back home.
Well, things (and pictures!) not always end the way you imagined them, but since I was wearing my empowering “girls” t-shirt & the camera with me I decided that I would not let that be all our Sunday outing: we must find something to change our mood, ha!
In Sant Antoni there’s a shop called Rooftop Smokehouse, which, besides selling the most yummy smoked goods like salmon or a delicious butter (which is too good to be real!), has a cute colorful design on the window blinds. I knew their party octopus will most certainly cheer us up in seconds… and it did!
I am on the hunt of more street art in Barcelona, specially created by ladies to make it visible. I may be way luckier next time!
In 10 days Easter is here and we will be soon travelling to Madrid to visit my new nephew Oliver, whom was born yesterday (tuut!). He is the baby from Sonia & Julio, do you remember the couple from the engagement pictures we took for them?
How do you add a happier not to bad days? I would love to hear about you!
El mundo gira por mujeres y chicas como tú, luchadora y maravillosa. Estás guapísima en estas fotos!! Han quedado muy bonitas!!!
Aww that’s super sad about Emily’s mural I love her art! On a more positive note, your outfit is kick-arse amazing, the colours tie together beautifully and *high five* for girls! Have super fun on your travels and meeting Oliver!
I love stumbling upon street art, though I never know who the artists are! The culture of street art is interesting, and I think it’d be cool to learn more about. I feel like the temporality of street art makes it unique and also makes me appreciate it more. Shame when a beautiful one is painted over with one you don’t like as much, but that one will probably be painted over too! // Love corduroy :3 // To get over a bad day, sometimes I just need to nap/sleep, shower, or take an hour to drink coffee at a coffee shop and do nothing else :) -Audrey | Brunch at Audrey’s
