When Damaris and Dani delightfully contacted me to guest blog with the theme “Home is with you” I had to do one cheesy smile – not only do I adore their blog but I also get to talk and share such a sweet subject with you guys today.
I’m Fee and I used to live by myself in a little apartment which I loved and where I’d get to make trips to visit my boyfriend in his share house – life was good. A spanner was thrown in the works after breaking my ankle which ultimately left me living in my boyfriend’s share house (“only for a few months” I said). Fast forward a year and a bit later and I’m still here and still loving it even though, initially I had reservations. I was scared to live with my boyfriend, scared for all the magic to be gone and no more of that ‘getting dressed up and pretty’ to go visit stuff. Also the bathroom – yikes, let’s just say the house is home to a bunch of boys who definitely don’t put cleaning at the top of the list. You know what though, home for me is all about getting to spend time with things you love. Sometimes I miss having the toilet all to myself but it’s a small thing to give up for all the laughs and smiles I’ve encountered along the way.
Taken in our backyard hanging with our super friendly chickens. We have three chickens, Oblina, Pot Pie and Ella who not only make great pets but supply us with delicious eggs :)
Our house is on a big block of land with some super pretty trees. We’re lucky to have a macadamia nut tree, pecan tree, bunya nut and a vegie garden down the back that the boys set up
Our newest addition is a little guy called Gremlin. My boyfriend Ben and I have been wanting a cat for so long but put it off because Ben works away for weeks at a time and then only home for a few. Truth be told, Ben was scared the kitten would bond with me more if he was only around for a few weeks before leaving again for work – so we waited until he had a bigger chunk of time off. Everyday I love our little Gremlin even more (is that ridiculous? lol he’s one super amazing kitty)
What I like about our house is it’s pretty eclectic from all the personalities living here, we have people come and go quite often but our very last housemate was a delightful girl, so I got to see pretty flowers pop up around the house.
There is never a dull moment either, we have nightly movies (sometimes on a projector outside) or on special occasions we’ll do a bonfire and sit around for a bit of a jam. I can’t jam but these boys are musically creative people so I just roll with it and pretend to know what I’m doing when they hand me a drum :P
They also tend to do strange projects like building a mud house (cob for those in the know) at nigh time nonetheless :P
I wouldn’t be me if I didn’t finish off this post with a picture of Ben and me or at least out feet together in bed. This is what I love and need to always remind myself to appreciate – you know those little moments that make life special.
Thanks Damaris and Dani for having me – I’d definitely consider you guys my super blog pals and I can’t say enough how much I love reading your blog and all your pictured filled stories :)
