A diplo-mati-cus mission

Last month we bought a “new” console for our living room, in a small vintage shop called Fusta’m (it is worthy of a visit if you come to Barcelona and you are into decoration and furniture). In fact it is an old kitchen cabinet, and the “evil” guys from Fusta’m restored it with new colors and materials (wooden countertop) that turned it into a must have for our home. Damaris went completely nuts for it and I have to admit that it finally was a good idea.

This last week while thinking about how to decorate it, we remembered an old plastic toy we bought in a second-hand market: an awesome Diplodocus! We both were crazy for dinosaurs when we were kids (well…let’s just say that the love has never stopped) and we thought it would be a great idea to paint it in white (because you know what they say that it’s the new black for dinosaurs) and use it as the hit decoration item in the console. His new name, now as an elegant white dinosaur, is Mr. Diplodocus, in case you were wondering.

In our home you can’t introduce a white dinosaur without the approval of our white cat, so we made an attempt to make the most proper meeting for these two beauties. Do you want to see how it all went? Check it out on the left!

Our new console - The cat, you and us

Our new furniture! We also decorated it with a San Francisco map we bought during our trip. And you know what? A San Francisco post is coming very soon.

A diplodocus in new york - The cat, you and us

Mr. Diplodocus visiting New York, I’m sure he is searching for Cronuts.

Looking at mr. diplodocus

Our first strategy: We put Juno on a chair facing his (crossing fingers here) new friend.

Put a white diplodocus in your home - The cat, you and us

Although Juno knows she can’t jump into the table, she’s patiently waiting for a distraction to get on the table and smell Mr. Diplodocus.

Hi, my name is Juno - The cat, you and us Cat VS diplodocus - The cat, you and us

You know that Juno is not the bravest cat on earth, after a closely eye-contact she runned away.

Juno + Dam - The cat, you and us

Finally, Damaris went to the rescue and introduced them. I think it will be a great friendship, they both share a taste for goat cheese.

After Jurassic Park I went crazy with dinosaurs stuff (who didn’t?) but I have lost almost all my dinos, so we (shamefully) had to bought a “new” one… We love it but I think Juno is not into dinosaurs as much as we are ;)

That cabinet is gorgeous. I love when people aren’t afraid to go beyond restoring pieces and start to re-imagine them. And Juno is just too cute with your dinosaur friend. Great job capturing their “meeting.”

Thanks Mariko! We had not posted about Juno for a while, so we thought that showing the new cabinet (and Mr diplodocus xD) was the perfect excuse to do it ;)

Although the dinosaur and Juno are definitely the cutest, I think that line poster of San Francisco is so cool! I’ve seen them on etsy, but they really do look neat! :o

Oh, so glad that you liked the line poster. I didn’t know they are also selling them on etsy! Perfect to know as there are other many interesting options that I can now consider as well! We bought it in a trendy shop on Valencia Street (Mission district, SF).
