Barcelona has been like a boiling pot for weeks, in a constant heat wave that is just today giving us a slight truce sign. During weekdays we almost jump from the work’s AC to ours at home but I feel I’m missing out if I don’t enjoy our city during weekends, so we planned a visit to the National Museum (MNAC) this last Saturday.
A museum visit is always nice, you get to learn something new and enjoy some silent time that makes you feel like in a bubble away from the bustling city. The MNAC comes with an extra, Barcelona views and free entrance on Saturday afternoons – both for the collection and the temporary exhibitions. Since there was a photography exhibition we thought our visit was a must and that we could take some pics of Barcelona & the museum while showing also a very summery dress I got during sales.
To get to the museum there is a moderate way up which is usually quite easy to climb, but with the heat it is suggested that you stop to take pictures (easy, right? the views are quite great), bring water and use the automatic staircases, ha! During your way up you will find the Venetian towers (those orangey ones at the beginning), some congress buildings, the famous Montjuïc fountains and the four columns, a national monument.
My favorite part from the Museum is the Modern Art wing with amazing Art Nouveau pieces, the same period from the most famous buildings (aka Gaudí) in Barcelona. Although if you are into Medieval art they have one of the best collections in Europe. I also like to just spend time hanging in the Auditorium.
How was your weekend? Do you have any (chilly or not) favorite getaway in your city? Which is your summer uniform?
what a gorgeous museum! i haven’t been to one in ages. but i used to love spending hours just strolling around and taking everything in :) and it’s a good way to beat the heat too, especially in DC where it can get so hot and humid!
Both the museum building and the place where is located is pretty! Oh and it is the same type of heat here, hot and humid :) ♥
Las fotos de la ciudad y el museo son una pasada! Y los dos estais muy guapos! Muy chula la foto de la escalera mecánica ^_^
Gracias trio maravilla! :)
I can see why that dress has become a favourite. I’ve been wearing maxi skirts every day this summer. That museum seems stunning. I would love to check out their medieval art collection one day.
Oooh maxi skirts, it’s my pending subject. I tend to look for the shapes that I already feel good in but I need to step out of my comfort zone to discover new things that would be just as cute :) You need to check the medieval collection, that’s for sure, it’s impressive. I’m sure I’ll say one day hello to you guys here in Barcelona ;)
Moltes cadiretes guays….jejejej molt nòrdic :) molts petunets!!!!!!!!!!

OMG! That dress! I can’t even! That is totally something I’d wear in a heartbeat! :D
It was a lucky sales purchase, it makes me feel pretty and happy :) thanks girl!
oh, I miss Barcelona. and this is a lovely dress indeed. here, temperatures dropped. it was only 17 on Sunday and everyone got caught in their skimpy outfits freezing their asses off. wanna trade?
Hahahahahhaa, you always make me smile Petra :) :) mmmm I know the feeling, I think I will stick with our humid-hot weather for a while ;)
Oooh Barcelona does look so pretty in that dramatic light! Love your very cute and perfectly summer dress and I love how pretty the museum is – giving lots of nice backdrops!!! Perfect session shoot location maybe?
yes, definitely would make a good photo session location, I can see those columns in a couple’s shot :) ♥
That dress is soooo cute!
♥ It is a fun dress to wear, one of those that makes you twirl around :)
Ah yes, museums are the perfect way to get out but also stay in :P I’ve been in Beijing for the last two months, but I still can’t get used to the muggy heat! It’s deterred me from going out, but I’m leaving at the end of this week, so I’ve been trying to use these few days productively by exploring. The first thing I do when I get home is jump in the shower :P -Audrey | Brunch at Audrey’s
Hahahahaha, so fun the shower comment, sooo true! Humidity definitely lessens your wishes to explore.. but Beijing!!! I’m sure every corner has something exciting :)
Meravelloses vistes de Barcelona, del Museu i la model, m’han encantat les fotos!!!
Un 10 per a la model, i també per al fotògraf! ;)
Fins aviat!
