3 inspiring bits, the series

For the third edition of the “3 inspiring bits” series we are hosting Elena from Lelelerele. I am thrilled to have her with us in our blog, she is a crafter I admire but what’s even better, after meeting her, I have discovered that she is also a generous and kind heart.

She has prepared a charming introduction so without further ado I leave you with her most memorable pieces from the last months!

Hello there! My name is Elena and I create plush toys & dolls. Although I have an educational background in industrial design I chose to build my own handmade designs; I love taking part of the complete process, from the initial idea to the last stitch. I also enjoy taking pictures and making the best of the trifles in life.

I met Dani & Damaris during the last Festivalet market and fell in love with them, with Juno and their blog at the first click. When they contacted me to help them celebrate the anniversary I felt honored to share in their blog 3 pictures with my favorite 3 moments of this last year; so here I am, delighted to be with all of you!

It’s a rather hard task to choose only three special moments in a whole year when so many pleasant things have happened at personal, creative and professional level, so I would then try to select the ones that were more meaningful although at the same time I feel I am leaving behind so many which should also be present :)

I’m going to start with a family affair which hands down is the most fantastic new ever: I am going to be an auntie! For a girl that makes dolls for a living is easy to imagine that something inside me is very attached to the children’s world, so when my sister told me the great news it instantly became my favorite moment. This year I will be the aunt of Emma (that’s my niece’s name) and she is going to be the baby with more plushies and dolls in the whole world, that’s for sure!

A great achievement this year was giving “birth” to my newest creation called Nelos; I love when a new product is born, Nelo & Nela are my last finished ones although right now I am already working on the prototypes for newer characters. The moment they are created, done and standing up there looking at me it’s always a boost of happiness.

However, I must admit that my most special moments are the everyday. It can seem such a simple silly thing but when we finish our day and I have the chance to be with Maga and Ivan enjoying a fresh beer on our terrace and talk about our things (well, Maga is a good listener) I feel that my heart is then completed. Feeling the summer approaching, with the longer days and the refreshing evening walks, those little bits are the most special & inspiring that make a perfect year.
